The Workers of the Last Journey

The Workers of the last Journey
by Mustafa Sarp Danışoğlu

“Every year, thousands of people die in Bologna. Life flows on without ever stopping; people are born and pass away. There are two sectors that are always at work: the food industry and funeral services.”

For a year and a half, Mustafa worked in funeral services in Bologna. During that time, he encountered countless lives, stories, and farewells. Alongside strong and patient colleagues, each carrying their own experiences, he learned what it truly means to live in the constant presence of death.

All photographs featured in this book were taken by Mustafa himself during his time working in funeral services, using a Minolta FS-E II camera. They offer a personal and intimate visual record of a world that usually remains unseen.
