White paint symbolises purity, innocence and clarity, until it falls. An overturned bucket, a careless step, an uncontrolled splash and suddenly unexpected marks appear in the urban landscape. Malheur Couleur focuses on these accidental mishaps and transforms them into an artistic project.

Dana Engfer and Moritz Otto invited artists to respond to such mishaps with a keen eye. The resulting collection documents drops, splashes and puddles of white paint captured on smartphones, unintended interventions in the urban landscape that spread across Instagram and now appear as a curated selection in book form.
